Todd Ford enters his second season as the head coach of the Lovejoy Leopards. He came to Lovejoy from Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock where he spent the six years as their first Campus Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach. During his tenure the Raiders finished with three straight play-off appearances and a District and Bi-District Championship in 2015.
Before moving to Central Texas, Coach Ford was at The University of North Texas in Denton, where he served as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach (2007-2009). While there, his teams set University of North Texas & Sun Belt Conference single-season records for pass attempts, pass completions and passing yards.
Prior to moving to the college level, he was Offensive Coordinator at Southlake Carroll High School (2004-2006), when they went 48-0 and won three State 5-A Football Championships. He also coached running backs for 1 year.
Coach Ford has also been on the football coaching staffs at Keller High School (Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach), Flower Mound High School (Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach), and Newman-Smith High School (Defensive Backs Coach).
He graduated from Freer High School in Texas, where he was an All-State quarterback and a member of the 1990 3-A State Championship Baseball Team. He was a quarterback for the University of Texas-Austin, and was on the 1994 Longhorn Football team that won the Sun Bowl, and the 1995 team that won the final Southwest Conference Championship title that played in the Sugar Bowl.
Coach Ford and his wife Zondra are the parents of three children – a son Tyler (9 years), a daughter Zoey (7 years), and another son Hudson (4 years). In his spare time, Coach Ford enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
Coach Clayton George is in his first year as the Offensive Coordinator for the Lovejoy Leopards. He has two decades of experience as a highly successful high school and college football coach. Prior to coming to Lovejoy, Coach George was the Head Football Coach at Tyler Lee High School. He was the Offensive Coordinator at Carroll High School in Southlake for a total of 10 years. Coach George has also served as head coach at Haltom High School and Hillcrest High School before joining Coach Todd Dodge at the University of North Texas in the spring of 2007. He has coached two Class 5A State Championship teams at Carroll, including the undefeated 2002 Texas Class 5A, Division II state champions and the undefeated 2011 Class 5A, Division I champions and he has coached a number of elite high school, college and NFL players.
He is married to Angie George. They have 5 children: Chloe, Claire, Carlee, Cade, and Chandler.
Coach Zack Smith is in his second year at Lovejoy High School serving as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. He is also the head powerlifting coach. He has 19 years of coaching experience, 11 years as a coordinator, and 7 as a powerlifting coach. His coaching stops include Round Rock Cedar Ridge, Denison, University of Texas A&M-Commerce, Austin College, Kansas Wesleyan University and Howard Payne University. He was an All-American Southwest Conference Linebacker at Howard Payne University where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science. He also has his Master of Science from Texas A&M-Commerce. He teaches physical education at Puster Elementary.
He is married to Amy Smith who teaches language arts at Hart Elementary. They have two beautiful daughters, Zaya who is 5 years old and Amaylee who is 1.
Coach Tyler Wicke, Special Teams Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach, is entering his second full year at Lovejoy. He grew up in Columbus, Texas and graduated from Texas State University in 2007 with degrees in Exercise Sports Science and Mathematics. He also recently earned his master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through The University of Texas at Arlington.
Coach Wicke spent the four years previous to Lovejoy at Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock. Prior to that, he was at McCallum High School in Austin for 4 years and Cy-Springs High School outside the Houston area for one.
Tyler and his wife Christine, a clinical pharmacist, were married in 2010 and have 2 energetic sons, Titus (3) and Madden (1). When Coach Wicke isn't chasing them around, he enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family. The Wicke Family is thrilled to be a part of the Lovejoy Community.
Coach Austin Coachman enters his 10th year of coaching and his 6th year at Lovejoy High School. Coach Coachman is a graduate of Austin College in Sherman, TX in 2006 where he also received his Masters as well in 2007. From 2008-2009, Austin served on current AD Jim Bob Puckett's staff, coaching DB's. From 2010-2014, Austin returned back to Austin College, where he coached QB's and was recruiting coordinator.
Austin has been happily married to Andrea (Who has also taught in LISD) for 4 years. In his spare time, Coach Coachman enjoys playing golf, spending time with friends and family, and playing more golf.
Coach Tim Denton is in his 3rd year at Lovejoy coaching Cornerbacks. This is his 14th year as a high school coach. Tim's experience includes coaching Defensive Backs at Texarkana Pleasant Grove High School, New Boston High School, Red Oak High School, and Hillcrest High School. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology.
Tim has one son, Drew, a graduate student at the University of North Texas.
Coach Chip Garber joins the Lovejoy coaching staff after serving the past 3 years as a defensive coach at JJ Pearce High School in Richardson, TX. He will be teaching elementary PE. Garber has 35 years of coaching experience at all levels of football. He has coached on both sides of the football. Garber is a graduate of the University of Maryland.
His wife, Linda, is from Murphy, TX. They were blessed with two sons, Rusty and Derek, a daughter Lauren.
Coach Dustin Gunter begins his second season with the Leopards coaching offensive line. He grew up in southeast Texas graduating from Nederland High school and then completed his bachelor’s degree at nearby Lamar University in Beaumont. He also received a Masters degree in educational administration from Texas A&M Commerce. He began his coaching career at Central Middle School in Nederland. After two years, he became junior high coordinator at Dawson Middle School in Carroll, Texas, being a part of the 2006 Southlake Carroll state championship. Following 4 years at Carroll, he became the offensive line coach at Mexia High School before leaving for Gilmer High School as the Fullback/Tight End’s coach and Special Teams Coordinator, winning a state championship in 2014.
He is very proud of his beautiful wife Genevieve (Campbell) of Rockwall who is also a coach at Sunnyvale ISD. They enjoy spending time in the outdoors, cooking, and golfing.
Coach Vince Hernandez graduated from Lamar University in 2002 with a BBA in Management Information Systems and in 2015 with a M.Ed. in Administration. This is Hernandez’s second year at Lovejoy High School and he will coach Offensive Line and Track. Coach Hernandez has 15 years of teaching and coaching experience from 3 districts including; Cedar Ridge-RR ISD (6 yrs.), Hutto (5 yrs.) and Thrall (3 yrs.). Hernandez teaches Technology and Business classes.
Coach Hernandez and his wife, Jenifer, have 2 daughters, Sadi (15) and Karsyn (9). Hobbies include watching college football, traveling and spending time with family.
Coach Cole Kiefer is from Van Alstyne, TX where he graduated from Van Alstyne High School in 2003. While there he competed in Football, Baseball, Track, and Powerlifting. After high school he attended the University of North Texas where he majored in Kinesiology. While at North Texas he was a member of the UNT Rugby Team, starting all four years and captain for two years. He was selected twice to the All-Texas Collegiate Rugby Team and once to the Western United States All-Star Rugby Team, and played in the USA Rugby Select Tournament with the West team. Coach Kiefer is entering his ninth year in education and coaching, and his third at Lovejoy High School. Coach Kiefer works with the Defensive Ends and also coaches wrestling.
He and his beautiful wife Taylor have been married for four years.
Coach David Lynch is in his eleventh year teaching and coaching. This will be his first year at Lovejoy. He previously coached at Quinlan Ford HS, Springtown HS, was the Assistant Head Coach at Mesquite Poteet from 2012-2015 and coached defensive line for the last two years at Lake Highlands High School. Coach Lynch attended college at Texas A&M - Commerce where he played football and earned a bachelor’s degree in History.
Coach Dillon O'Bryant begins his first year at Lovejoy, coaching linebackers. He grew up in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, graduating from Pauls Valley High School. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education. He previously worked a Wilkinson Middle School in Mesquite, Texas.
